The Provincial Government of Bataan is facing a new challenge barely five months before yearend, and that is how to fully implement the Universal Health Care Law amid reports that funds for the Department of Health for 2024 has been slashed by P10 billion.
Bataan Gov. Joet Garcia recently met with representatives of district hospitals and rural health units at the Provincial Health Board led by former board member Godofredo Galicia, Jr. to discuss among others the implementation of PhilHealth Konsulta Primary Care Provider Network (PCPN).
Under the UHC Law, the said network shall be included in the provincewide integrated health system. Once the program is utilized, the special health fund shall be downloaded to the Provincial Health Board. It was not immediately available how much fund will be needed by the provincial government.
Galicia said Bataan is one of the provinces chosen as “sandbox” of Philhealth in the country for the implementation of “Konsulta Package.” Gov. Garcia had encouraged local officials to support the implementation of UHC Law by having their constituents enlisted in the Philhealth “Konsulta Package” to avail of medical services.
